Getting Rid Of My Past

The day has finally come, and I'm packing for college. My mom said, 'Ache se khana, bahar ka kuch mat khana, tumhe suit nahi karta, Eashu.' I replied, 'I know it, Amma. Main sambhal loongi.' I finished my packing and took a look at my phone. My best friend Drishti's message popped up: 'Let's give you a farewell at "Our Bakery". Be ready at 5. I'll pick you up.' I saw the clock, and it was 4 PM. I took a nap and then told my mom I was going to meet Drishti. I opened my cupboard looking for a dress. Staring at the black body-hugging dress, I remembered the last time I wore it was with him, and his reply was, 'Kuch dhang ke kapde nahi pehen sakti thi?' I was going south in my move-on plan, I reminded myself. So, I took a pair of high-waisted jeans and a graphic tee.

It was already 5, and Drishti came with her scooty. I sat, and the breeze made me feel alive. We chit-chatted during the drive, and within minutes, we reached "Our Bakery".
